Proper Disposal of Shock Absorbers
Pursuant to Article 219, paragraph 5 of Legislative Decree 152/2006 and subsequent amendments.
The correct disposal of shock absorbers is an important issue for Bitubo. Environmental protection is one of the company’s core objectives. Product quality encompasses not only optimal performance and long service life but also resource savings, material recycling, and environmental protection. This means developing, producing, and disposing of products in an eco-friendly manner.
At the end of their life, shock absorbers and the mineral/synthetic oil contained within must be delivered to authorized collection centers or specialized workshops, in compliance with Legislative Decree 152/2006 (Environmental Regulations) and Legislative Decree 209/2003. Do not release into the environment.
All our shock absorbers can be periodically serviced at our service centers, ensuring a long service life. However, if the product must be disposed of, we strongly recommend taking it to a dedicated waste collection center.
For safety reasons, do not tamper with, puncture, or open the shock absorber, as it contains pressurized gas (nitrogen), which could cause explosion or the rapid release of oil and gas. Always consult a specialized workshop or Bitubo service center.
These disposal recommendations apply both to our shock absorbers and to used shock absorbers replaced by our products.
Recommended Disposal Procedure in Workshops:
  1. Remove the shock absorber according to the specific service manual for the Bitubo product, ensuring that there is no pressure inside.
  2. Completely drain the oil contained in the shock absorber into a suitable container.
  3. Dispose of the oil in a designated collection container for waste oil.
    • EER Codes: 13 02 05*, 13 01 10*, 13 01 11* – hazardous special waste.
    • Depending on the shock absorber model, the safety data sheet of the specific oil may be requested.
  4. Dispose of the empty shock absorber as metal waste.
    • Ferrous materials, EER Code 16 01 17 – non-hazardous special waste.

This procedure ensures safe, environmentally responsible disposal while complying with current regulations.
